    Sally Peterson Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1995, The Sally Peterson Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a college-bound graduate of the Sagaponack School. The Scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s scholastic achievement, civic participation and written essay.

The scholarship fund is administered by a committee comprised of Sagaponack community members. The committee holds an annual bake sale on school grounds to raise money for the scholarship fund. Additional funds are also raised through the sale of the book, “Sagaponack Now and Then,” which chronicles the history of the village and includes photographs of historic homes and buildings. Copies of the book can be purchased for $20 at the Sagg General Store or by contacting the Sagaponack School at 631-537-0651.

If you would like to volunteer to help with the bake sale, obtain a scholarship application and/or provide a donation, please contact the committee chairperson, Alexandra Lopez, at alexandralopez033@gmail.com

    Shared Decision Making Committee

The New York State Department of Education requires that that each school district assemble a Shared Decision Making Committee comprised of teachers, an administrator, parents and up to two community members. The goal of the Shared Decision Making Committee is to improve the educational performance of all students in the school regardless of such factors as socioeconomic status, race, sex, language background, or disability.

To achieve this goal, the Committee meets periodically to review the curriculum and teaching materials, evaluate instructional methods, student performance, staff development, and the overall school environment. Based on its findings, the Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Education for improvements.
Permanent members of the committee include the Superintendent of Schools and the full-time teaching staff. Parent and community representative are appointed annually.

For more information on this committee, or to inquire about becoming a member, please contact the Superintendent of Schools super1@sagaponackschool.org or call 631-537-0651.
